Friday, June 4th: Chef Stef showcases “culinary art.” Goldbelt Heritage Foundation summer camp. Juneau Audubon Society’s birds to watch.  

While others use paints and canvas, Stefani Marnon reaches into the pantry for her art supplies. Her creations are masterpieces in butter and sugar, that do a quick disappearing act off the store shelves of Juneau, where she is known simply as, Chef Stef.

Chef Stef is celebrating Gay Pride Month with a rainbow-themed line of toffees and treats.

 

At the  Juneau Artist Gallery this month, Chef Stef is the featured artist. On Friday’s Juneau Afternoon, she explains why she believes  “cooking is the perfect marriage of food and art.”

It’s a day of strength, a day of hope — celebrated in communities around the world. And here in Juneau, National Cancer Survivor’s Day will be observed with a walk this Sunday from the Marine Park to the whale statue.

On Wednesday’s Juneau Afternoon, hear what this day means to one cancer survivor, who is also a member of Cancer Connection, the group organizing Sunday’s event. Its main mission: to provide support to those who are living with cancer.

Natasha Boozer spent some time growing up in Juneau.

Natasha Boozer is like many Black parents. She wants to protect her children from the kind of racism she experienced growing up in Juneau.

On Thursday’s Juneau Afternoon, she talks with her longtime friend, Christina Michelle, about the conversations she has with her kids, so they understand what it means to be Black in today’s world — as well as her new book, “The Women of Palmer.”
