Originally from Germany, Birgit has lived in Fairbanks for the past nineteen years, where she writes overlooking the Tanana Valley. Her work has appeared in Cirque Journal and 49 Writers. She is currently looking for a home for her memoir entitled “Transplanted.”

“I am a member of 49 Writers. This poem was written mid April when a long Fairbanks’ winter and the COVID “hunker down” life combined to make yet another snowy morning feel oppressive. But it did make for good skiing.”

Patricia “Patty” Ware is a thirty-year resident of Juneau. She’s pictured with her mom on a visit made to the East Coast last fall, when visiting family, in-person, was a precious gift, but not understood as one that would be in jeopardy due to a deadly virus.
