Peace Talk – 2-22-16

February 22, 22, 2016

Guests include Paul Carroll of the Ploughshares Fund and Aaron Davidman, writer and actor of the play Wrestling Jerusalem.

Carroll discusses North Korea’s nuclear tests and missile launches, the US and China responses and historical background to the nuclear standoff.

Davidman talks about how his solo performance is an effort to shed light on the complexities of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by grappling with identity, history, and social justice through a dozen different characters. The play’s Juneau premiere is a collaborative effort by Congregation Sukkat Shalom, Juneau People for Peace and Justice, Northern Light United Church, and Perseverance Theater to encourage a community conversation that, like the play, emphasizes personal story as the route to deeper, more humane understanding of all conflict.

Mind Over Matter – 2-1-16

Death with Dignity legislation has been hotly debated across the US.  Join Dr. Elaine Schroeder and her guest, Alaska State Representative Harriett Drummond, this coming Monday at 7pm on KTOO to learn more about a recently introduced bill which would allow, with strict limitations, terminally ill patients to choose to have doctor assisted deaths.  So tune in this coming Monday at 7pm on KTOO to Mind Over Matter, with  where difficult issues are examined compassionately.
