Tidelines Ferry Tour

A small group of artists are on a floating, ferry-based residency across coastal Alaska through Sitka’s Island Institute. With the institute’s Peter Bradley, the artists are exploring the intersection of climate change and culture.

Playwright Chantal Bilodeau, creative futurist Michelle Kuen Suet Fung, rapper Allison Warden and poet Devan Alexander present some of their work and share what they’ve learned. Hosted by Scott Burton.

Criminal Justice Reform

Alaska’s prison population has grown almost three times faster than the state’s overall population in the last decade. About two out of three inmates released from prison return within three years.

Lawmakers recognized a need for reform and in 2014 convened a commission of multidisciplinary experts to study the system. Now, members of that commission are sharing how Alaska can reduce crime, reduce punishment and save money.

The short film reveals a university class inside Juneau’s Lemon Creek Correctional Center that is led by Sol Neely, an English professor at the University of Alaska Southeast.

How Childhood Sexual Assault Survivors Turned Trauma into Art

Alaska writers Vera Starbard and David Holthouse were sexually assaulted as children. Each of their stories has been turned into plays – Our Voices Will Be Heard and Stalking the Bogeyman. At this Forum@360, hear their incredible journeys of healing through storytelling, and the power of shattering the silence onstage. Storyteller Jack Dalton will also join us later in the program to discuss the transformative power of art in dealing with trauma.
