Housing First Across the Country – Town Hall Discussion

Housing First Across the Country is the second in a series of A Roof town hall meetings to be held around the state. Nancy Burke with the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority moderates a discussion with Housing First experts Sam Tsemberis and Bill Hobson. Housing First is a growing movement for addressing chronic homelessness. The basic idea is if you provide people with permanent, supportive, stable housing, then it’s easier to treat the underlying cause of their homelessness.

Panelists include:
Nancy Burke – Senior program director, Alaska Mental Health Trust
Sam Tsemberis – Founder and CEO of Pathways to Housing, New York City
Bill Hobson – Executive director, Downtown Emergency Services Center, Seattle

Contributors include The Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority, The Alaska Coalition on Housing and Homelessness, and The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence Juneau in partnership with the Juneau Clean Air Coalition.
