MK MacNaughton’s “Grit”
For Juneau’s January First Friday, artist MK MacNaughton hung the first of 52 portraits at the Juneau Arts and Culture Center. The year-long show is called “Grit” and KTOO’s Scott Burton shot a video of MacNaughton as she hung portrait number two.
Worl Skates Into the Burke
The Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture in Seattle recently opened an exhibit called “Here and Now: Native Artists Inspired.” Among the new works by the contemporary artists, are two skateboard decks that Juneau-based Tlingit artist Rico Lanáat’ Worl designed and painted. KTOO’s Scott Burton visited Worl at his store in Juneau and brings us this artist profile.
David Woodie
David Woodie has worked as a logger, a fisherman, and a teacher and uses the unique perspectives he gained in those fields in his paintings. Woodie refers to himself as a narrative painter and says that his paintings suggest stories. Scott Burton hosts.
