Lon Chaney howls on Crosscurrents 2/10

Lon Chaney, Jr., THE WOLF MAN, 1941.Lon Chaney, Jr. (a/k/a The Wolf Man) born this date 1906 was an American actor best known for portrayal of a werewolf in the 1941 classic movie.  Gavin and Wyatt are scared in the dark in the presents of The Wolf Man while John is busy in the studio in the midst of the radio show.  Please join us for Wolf Man dark night memories in the morning on Crosscurrents, Feb. 10 at 8 a.m.

Holly, Valens, Bopper tribute on Crosscurrents 2/3

MusicDied.GW3_650xx360On February 3, 1959, a small plane crashed in an Iowa farm field during a snow storm took the lives of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper.  Gavin and Wyatt, the dogs, reflect at the small memorial existing at the end of a dirt road near Clear Lake, Iowa.  You are invited to enjoy the fact that their music did not die as John proves with an all Holly-Valens-Bopper play list on Crosscurrents, 2/3 at 8 am.

February First Friday at KTOO

KTOO is looking for artists who wish to contribute works, in all mediums, that relate to the historic Pump House at Sandy Beach for a show at the station in February 2014.

The Treadwell Mine’s salt water Pump House has stood sentinel on the 80-acre Sandy Beach in Douglas for nearly 100 years.

The February show will be part of a month-long celebration of the structure, highlighting its history as well as its future.

Artists are invited to submit work for consideration ready to hang by Monday, February 3rd, 2014 for a First Friday Show on February 7th. For more information, contact Jeff Brown at 463-6425 or jeff@ktoo.org

Nat Geo dawns on Crosscurrents 1/27

GeoSoc.GW_650x360The National Geographic Society with its motto “inspiring people to care about the planet” was officially incorporated on the 27th of January 1888.  Gavin and Wyatt pause to rest their paws before trekking to the top of the snowy mountain while John saves his feet by the feat of exploring the confines of the music library.  As the sun comes up over the mountain, you can join the National Geo birthday by tuning to Crosscurrents, 1/27 at 8 a.m.
