Marshall Dillon on Crosscurrents 5/26

The actor James Arness, best known for his portrayal of the stalwart  Marshal Matt Dillon on the television series “Gunsmoke”, was born on this date in 1923.  Gavin and Wyatt join Marshall Dillon as they patrol the streets of Dodge City while John pays tribute to the Arness role of Marshall Dillon with a lawman  – gunslinger – outlaw soundtrack.  There is no need to “get out of Dodge” when you celebrate the James Arness birthday on Crosscurrents, 5/26 at 8 a.m.

Ferdinand Magellan on Crosscurrents 5/19

Today is the birthday in 1480 of Ferdinand Magellan who in 1519-1522 led the first expedition to sail around the world.  Gavin and Wyatt ponder Magellan’s idea of a globe with his ship at the dock while John gathers music to inspire a “circle around” rather than an “over the edge” journey.  You are invited to celebrate Magellan without falling off the edge the earth on Crosscurrents, 5/19 at 8 a.m.

Katherine Hepburn on Crosscurrents 5/12

On this day in 1907, Katherine Hepburn, who was a smart and sophisticated woman playing intelligent and independent characters in both comic and dramatic roles, was born in Hartford Connecticut.  Gavin and Wyatt dream about taking a small nap with their esteemed lady as John decides about producing a radio show for this elegant woman.  We hope you can join their tribute to Katherine Hepburn on Crosscurrents, 5/12 at 8 a.m.

Cinco De Mayo on Crosscurrents 5/5

Mexico.GW_650x360The 5th of May 1862, commemorates the young Mexican militia victory over the imposing French army at the Battle of Puebla which fostered sense of national pride against European imperialism.  Gavin and Wyatt look to a Mexican flag to unite in herding duties while John looks to his Spanish dictionary to help in selecting alternative-rock songs from south of the border.  We invite you to join a Cinco De Mayo commemoration on Crosscurrents, 5/5 at 8 a.m.

John Muir on Crosscurrents 4/21

The wilderness and geology explorer John Muir was born on April 21st 1838, and would become an influential naturalist and conservationist advocate.  Gavin and Wyatt look to Muir for a bowl of kibble, bones, and biscuit treats for dinner while John looks to the library for a list of mountain, ice, and wild music for the show.  Hikers, walkers, and ramblers of all sorts are invited to join the John Muir birthday celebration on Crosscurrents, 4/21 at 8 a.m.
