Alaska Supreme Court justices disagreed sharply on a case arising out of a collision between a truck and a cyclist in Sitka in July, 1997. Drug use or abuse was not considered to be a factor in the actual collision. Instead, the major issue focused on whether the cyclist had a history of drug use sometime before and immediately following the incident. Jurors apparently also disagreed with the court’s majority on the use of such evidence during the trial. Related Link: Into Liimatta v. Deborah Vest
