Juneau Afternoon 12/6/11

We’ll talk with conductor Sally Smith about the Juneau Lyric Opera’s Holiday Pops concerts this weekend; Becca Parks will be here to talk about this week’s First LEGO League competition; Jenna O’Fontanella and Linda Curtis will give us a taste of Saturday’s Holiday Cooking & Self-Care class at Rainbow Foods; and Carin Smolin, Career Technical Education Coordinator, will be here to talk about second semester high school after school classes.

Juneau Afternoon 12/2/11

Today at 3 on A Juneau Afternoon, Pat Moore will host. We’ll get the details on the UAS Certified Nurses Assistant program, with guests, Suzanne Malter, and four of her students; Pam Leary, from the Juneau Skating Club, will be here along with Seigrid Dahlberg and Lauri Balstead to highlight Sunday’s Holiday Recital at Treadwell Ice Arena; We’ll hear from Tibetan Master, Khendrul Rinpoche about this weekend’s workshops at TMHS upstairs library Saturday and Sunday; and Libby Stringer will be here to let us know what’s happening for Gallery Walk at the Capital City Weekly offices.

Alaska Identity Project 12/1/11

Host Adrien Lopez interviews Andy Winer, Director of Strategic Initiatives & Partnerships and the Acting Director of External Affairs at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in Washington DC. He shared more information about the Joint ‘Statement of Intent’ to Strengthen Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience signed at the APEC CEO Summit in mid-November 2011, and the Joint Polar Satellite System, among other topics.

In the second part of the show, from 7:30 – 8:00 PM, she talked with Travis Gilmour, Public Media Director for KAKM TV, KSKA 91.1FM, and the Alaska Public Radio Network (APRN). He is also the Manager of Town Square 49, an exciting and engaging online destination to share stories, ideas, and voice, in words, photos and videos. “It’s where Alaska happens.”

We’ll find out about tomorrow’s observance of World AIDS Day, with guest, Heather Bayless; Artist Charity Green will be here to talk about her photography show at Paradise Beach – and the art show here at KTOO she organized; We’ll find out about this weekend’s Improv Nights at Perseverance Theatre hosted by students from UAS; And we’ll talk snow, with Matt Lillard & Jeffra Clough, from Eaglecrest.
