The next Focus On Community, August 15th, will be hosted by Juneau’s Veterans For Peace. Their program, titled “Peace Talk”, will examine the results of the VFP national convention, convening in Portland August 6-7, 2011. The most controversial issue at the convention is a proposed resolution calling for the impeachment of President Obama for his war policies, including the Libya incursion. One of the show’s hosts, Rich Moniak, is attending the convention and will speak about it on the program.

Today at 3 on A Juneau Afternoon, we’ll talk Charlotte Fox, outgoing Executive Director of the Alaska State Council on the Arts; Kimberly Vaughan will report on last weekend’s Frank Meier marathons; we’ll talk with two women bicycling from Anchorage to New Orleans; Dana White will be here to highlight next week’s Invasive Plants Workshop; and we’ll talk with members of the Hillbilly Honeys, on the roster for tonight’s Concert in the Park.

Today at 3 on KTOO-FM, we’ll talk with Ralph Steeves about the Ted Stevens Marine Research Institute; Jane Lindsay & Cristine Crooks will give us a preview of the upcoming exhibition of works by local plein aire painters this month at the Franklin Street Gallery at the Baranof Hotel; we’ll talk with Shona Strausser, from Perseverance Theatre, about this year’s schedule of performances; and we’ll talk about bears, with Ryan Scott from the Department of Fish & Game.
