  • The Heists, Taylor Dallas Vidic, and Josh Fortenbery will play The Alaskan on Saturday, January 31. Taylor, Andrew, and Erin stop in to play a couple of tunes and talk about recent and upcoming travels, and progress on imminent album releases.

  • Juneau Ghost Light Theatre presents a new live radio play, “The Case of the Aspiring Actress: A Detective Seau N. Sew Mystery,” on Friday, February 6 at the KTOO Studios. Playwright Hetty LaVerne, producer/director Cate Ross, composer Spencer Edgars, and actor Joshua Midgett preview the production.

  • Jen Gardner from Juneau Public Libraries stops in to share upcoming events and the new Juneau Reads project featuring Mary Roach’s “Fuzz: When Nature Breaks the Law.”

Alaska Music Summit, Con Brio’s ‘Winds in Winter,’ and Cooperative Extension February class preview

  • The Alaska Music Summit hosted by MusicAlaska (originally known as AKIMI) seeks to elevate music across Alaska. The summit is for music performers, bookers, technicians, teachers, and community members. It takes place Saturday, January 31 and Sunday, February 1 with panels, workshops and more.

  • Sarah Lewis previews upcoming courses and classes from the UAF Cooperative Extension here in Juneau. Classes include Brain Health, Bone Health, and a spring kitchen series.

  • Con Brio Chamber series presents “Winds in Winter” this Friday, January 30, and Saturday, January 31. It will feature a concerto for flute and a concerto for clarinet, and features Sally Schlichting, Karen Pallenberg, and Kyle Farley-Robinson. Sally and Karen chat about the upcoming recital.

Ya Tseen new album release party, Theater Alaska premieres new interview based play ‘These Birds,’ and updates with CBJ Pools

  • Yéil Ya-Tseen (Nicholas Galanin) guides the musical project Ya Tseen. The band just dropped a new album, “Stand On My Shoulders,” and will play an album release party at The Crystal Saloon on Saturday, January 24, 2026. Galanin is also one of the collaborators on the new exhibit “Gestures of Our Rebel Bodies,” opening at Aan Hít (Village House) Gallery on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.

  • Theater Alaska premieres a new play from Merry Ellefson, “These Birds: A play inspired by death, flowers, and Farkle.” It’s an interview-based play inspired by conversations with Juneau residents about death and dying. The production uses movement, puppetry, an original score, and an ensemble of eight performers. The play will be performed around Juneau in a variety of spaces, with both paid and free performances.   • The CBJ Pools’ Terra Patterson details upcoming classes for adults and children, including parent-and-tot classes and a new chair yoga class. Full details at juneaupools.org.
