An amateur sailor with no open-ocean experience embarked on a 1,200-mile trip across the Gulf of Alaska in a 24-foot sailboat in May. He was rescued last week from a beach on Akutan Island in the Aleutians and dropped off in Dutch Harbor, where he sought to tell his story.

Harbor seal makes rare visit to Mendenhall Lake
There’s a rare guest in the Mendenhall Lake this week. A seal was spotted Friday morning, cruising between the icebergs in the lake.
