The Haines community already is doing a lot to promote less waste, but this Earth Day a recycling organization in the Southeast Alaska town is trying to take it to a whole new level. With high prices at the landfill, the community of 2,500 has a big incentive to throw less away.
Haines Borough sends comment letter on 13,000-acre timber sale
The Haines Borough is asking for more information about a major timber sale in the Chilkat Valley, recently announced by the University of Alaska. At a regular meeting Tuesday, the Assembly voted to send a letter to the university prior to a community meeting at the end of April.
