Today at 3 on KTOO-FM on A Juneau Afternoon, Pat Moore will host. He’ll talk with Dixie Belcher and Kathy Hill from Turning the Tides, about two talks next week by author Albert Bates,whom they hope will kick off an effort to build community greenhouses in Juneau; we’ll talk sailing in Juneau with Ruth Kostik and Sean Bailey of Southeast Alaska Sailing; Kathy Ruddy and Lorrain Dieter will be here to highlight the dozen artist-decorated whales’ tails which will form the Whales’ Tail trail as a fundraiser for The Whale Project; and we’ll find out about high school graduation activities from Christie Berger, counsellor at Yakoosge Daakahidi Alternative High School, Ryan Alsip, Principal of JDHS, and Dan Larson, Principal at TMHS.
Focus on Community-Peace Talk 5/21/12
The first half of the program will feature an interview with Bara Kassambara from the West African nation of Mali. Mr. Kassambara is the “Country Director” for the Winrock Foundation in Mali, and coordinates that Foundation’s community and economic development. Mr. Kassambara is a friend of our own Mark Stopha, who has twice volunteered to assist the Foundation with fisheries development on the Niger River.
Second, congratulations to Ms. Kaila Buerger, the winner of this year’s VFP scholarship! Ms. Buerger will be on the show to discuss her scholarship entry and to share her plans for the fall. We are very much looking forward to the conversation.
