UAS will drop in on us to talk about the events at Family Day on the UAS campus Sunday; Lauren Brooks will fill us in in the AEYC Celebrity Read-A-Thon scheduled for Saturday afteroon; We’ll hear about the African Library Project from Susan Hickey of Hearthside Books; Megan Gregory from SEARHC and NAMI’s Christopher Cairns will explain the upcoming Walk For Life event; Kate Walters will tell us about the ORCA Cruise; and Jess Brown, Teen Health Advocate with the Zach Gordon Youth Center will bring us up to speed on the Hershey’s Track and Field Meet, coming up May 26.

Pat Moore hosts. Lech Wierzyynski, front man for The California Honeydrops will join us to talk about their upcoming Juneau Jazz and Classics show and Blues Cruise; we’ll hear about the annual Super Saturday Plant Sale from Sandy Williams; KTOO’s own Cheryl Levitt-Snyder will fill us in on this weekend’s K3 Radio Auction; John Logan will drop by to tell us about Saturday’s Community Cleanup Day; Edward Chow of the Energy and National Security Program will preview the talk he’ll be giving under the aegis of the Juneau World Affairs Council Thursday evening in the KTOO TV studio; Mark Piotrowski will tell us about Saturday’s Postal Carrier Food Drive; and Dan DeRoux will explain his opening at the Alaska State Museum; and we’ll get a full update of the arts scene in Juneau when Nancy DeCherney drops by from the JACC for Arts Up.

Pat Moore hosts. Rowdy Gaines, the third Pillars of America speaker will be here; we’ll talk with Anthony Devroye, violist with the Avalon String Quartet, guest artists here for the Juneau Jazz and Classics festival; Susan Chapman will tell us about her talk scheduled 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Juneau downtown library and a workshop she’ll conduct at the Synagogue on Douglas Island all day Saturday, based on her book Five Keys to Mindful Communication; and Barbara Cadiente Nelson and David Katzek will talk about the Heend Slatini Environmental Youth Group, Juneau high school students exploring Tlingit earth sciences.

Juneau Afternoon 5/7/12

We’ll talk with pianist Barney McClure about Wednesday’s Cabaret Concert, part of this year’s Juneau Jazz & Classics Festival; Becky Janes and Brock Tabor, from Above & Beyond Alaska, will highlight their Introduction to Kayaking class; we’ll learn about Wednesday’s season finale of Mudrooms, with guests Amanda Compton and Phoebe Rohrbacher; and Jim Penor and Kirk Duncan will be here to talk about Solid Waste Recycling in Juneau.
