Haines Representative Bill Thomas spent much of this year’s session working on the state’s operating budget. He also got projects into the capital budget for his widespread district, made up of villages and small cities from Metlakatla to Prince William Sound.

House adjourns
The Alaska House of Representatives adjourned sine die just before 5:30 p.m. today (Monday). In a news conference, House majority leaders blamed the Senate for not dealing with legislation that would formalize a plan for construction of a gas pipeline from the North Slope to Southcentral Alaska.
Senate adjourns, future of special session uncertain
The Alaska state Senate Thursday adjourned the special legislative session called by Governor Sean Parnell last week. The move followed Parnell’s unprecedented action Wednesday night of removing from consideration his bill to lower oil taxes.

The Legislature made it to the end of its regular 90 day session just after midnight this morning (Monday) – passing and sending to the governor several dozen bills over the final two days. However, the issues seen as critical at the start of the session, turned out to be footnotes at the end.
