Recently, Lance McMullan and his company Sitkana won in the category of Innovation and Technology for the developing technology of predictable renewable energy from ocean tidal currents.
Miah Lager, a Juneau local artist, art teacher, mother of three, daughter of a musical shoemaker, and a spirited artist, presents a collection of wearable art pieces. Working with the interplay of color and texture, Lager uses her experiences from her classic art school training, her joy of living, and her own personal, slight earring obsession to bring a little delight to your day.

Grand Marshal of the Douglas Fourth of July Parade talks Douglas and its July 4th traditions, which go back to mining days, as well as its history and place in the larger Juneau City and Borough.
The Juneau Montessori School (JMS) has been enriching the lives of Juneau families since 1985. It is a private, tuition-based non-profit school with a Board of Directors. The school offers toddler to kindergarten programs serving children ages 16 months to 6 years of age.

Native America Calling is a live call-in program offering a thought-provoking national conversation about issues specific to Native communities. Heard on over 90 public communty, and tribal radio stations in the US and Canada, Shawn Spruce hosts the show. He started appearing on the show in 2011 and is now its permanent host. The show also recently won the National Humanities Medal. The show is heard locally here on KTOO at 1 pm Monday-Friday.

Juneau Community Bands loves to bring the art and pleasure of music for wind and percussion players to all. One such way is the Juneau Volunteer Marching Band Independence Day concert this Sunday, July 2, at 3 pm at the Sealaska Heritage Arts Plaza.
A long-time Juneau favorite, Alexander Tutunov, will be coming to Juneau to perform with local violinist Franz Felkl. Friday, June 30, 7 pm at the JACC.

Theater Alaska tours neighborhoods in Juneau, bringing live music to an outdoor venue near you. Spruce Root, Sealaska Heritage Institute, Sealaska and Oweesta Corporation co-sponsor an Alaska Native artist and makers market from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 29 at the Heritage Plaza (in front of the Sealaska building and SHI Arts Campus). More than 30 participants will have tables where they’ll be selling items, including jewelry, paintings, photography, carvings, weaving, and more. The pop-up market is in coordination with Oweesta’s 8th annual Capital Access Convening on June 27-29 in Juneau.
Juneau Soccer Club recently had five teams participate in the Starfire Spring Classic in Tukwila, WA. The Juneau Soccer Club (JSC)’s 2010 Boys team won 1st place in the U14 Silver division in the Starfire Spring Classic soccer tournament in Seattle last week.
